In New England nothing says cottage garden more than the blue hydrangea. Knowing me, I couldn’t just have one; I have many!! In the springtime I get all excited when the shrub starts growing buds. Then when the first one blooms I know it’s almost summer. My hydrangeas bloom from mid June through mid fall. Throughout the summer I harvest the hydrangeas and dry them. Once dried, I grind the flowers and stems and combine it with a transparent polymer/resin. I roll it into thin sheets and make each pen one at a time. Each individual pen is different; you can actually see the crushed hydrangea flowers and stems. The unique texture and color comes directly from the blossoms. The pen uses a standard cross refill, easy how to instructions and a story card are included.
